ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
The creation of the Christian Shane Fonville Youth Foundation began several years before with the love and compassion of Randy and Carol Davis (Christian’s grandparents). For many years, they would help youth within their own community by offering whatever was needed to improve the lives of these youth. This, ultimately, lead to Randy and Carol to begin seeking out ways to help youth throughout the world.
The Davises first begin with a Christian Orphanage in India to help Indian girls that had been left on the streets. After many years of visiting and building the orphanage, they sought out other ways to enhance the lives of youth worldwide. Knowing that their efforts would need to become better organized, Randy began the steps to create this foundation.
At the same time as the foundation was being formed, Christian was admitted into the hospital with complications from a buildup of iron in his heart. After a three-week battle, Christian found his way to heaven. With the purpose of honoring their grandson and his life on earth it was decided to name the newly formed foundation after their grandson: The Christian Shane Fonville Youth Foundation.
ABOUT CHRISTIAN FONVILLE
Christian Shane was born on August 25, 2001. Over the 14 and half years he was on earth, he exhibited God’s love in the many lives he touched. Because of this, his parents, Kyle and Christa, felt his destiny would be to bring thousands to the Lord.
Growing up, Christian had many difficulties. Starting from age 6, Christian was in and out of doctor’s offices with physical limitations. All the time, he triumphed over his limitations and lived a normal life. Christian loved sports and play them often with friends and family, including baseball, basketball, wrestling, and tennis. Another love of Christian’s was all things epic such as “Star Wars”, “Lord of the Rings”, “The Hobbit”, and all things superhero. Christian would spend hours reading the books, and researching information on these subjects.
Christian grew up in church and knowing the Lord. He spent countless hours being a part of the children’s and youth choirs. He learned numerous Bible stories in Sunday School classes and VBS. When his church began its Upward Basketball program he played and learned the meaning of sportsmanship. After his playing days were done, Christian volunteered with Upward, working in the concession stand and working the announcing table. Christian was an active member in his Youth Group. Christian was always on the lookout to recruit someone to come help at Upward or attend the Youth Group.
Christian had a love for life in which he would share with everyone around him; friends, family, strangers, and especially his dog Spike. There were not many times when Spike was not at his side. While his limitations kept him from doing everything others could, he could light up a room with his mere presence. Anyone who met Christian would immediately call him friend. Each and every classmate had their own personal story of how Christian would go out of his way to make them feel absolutely special.
In February 2016, Christian went into the hospital with a diabetic shock on his body. The shock stressed his heart greatly. During the hospital stay, Christian had constant visits and prayers from many friends waiting on their buddy to recover. After three weeks in the hospital, Christian’s heart never recovered from his injuries and he began his life in heaven. As a way to honor their grandson’s life, his grandparents choose to name this foundation.
While he may not personally bring thousands into the kingdom of heaven, through the foundation he will still get the opportunity to bring thousands into the kingdom of heaven.
